Are you looking for durable BOPP bags with eye-catching printing for your product?
Here is an ultimate guide about BOPP bag for you. - let’s get started:
Biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BOPP) is generally multilayer co-extruded film, which is made of polypropylene particles through co-extrusion to form a sheet, and then stretched in both vertical and horizontal directions at a certain temperature and set speed.
Due to the tensile molecular orientation, this film has good physical stability, mechanical strength, air tightness, high transparency and gloss, toughness and wear resistance. It is a widely used printing film.
BOPP Laminated Bag refers to the combination of polypropylene woven bag and a laminated BOPP film layer on which graphic images are printed.
BOPP film has a wide range of advantages that can be applied to almost every product, if you are still looking for a packaging solution, don’t hesitate to send us inquiries.
BOPP Film is a very important flexible packaging material. BOPP film is colorless, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, and has high tensile strength, impact strength, rigidity, strength, toughness and good transparency.
The surface energy of BOPP film is low, and corona treatment is required before gluing or printing. After corona treatment, BOPP film has good printing adaptability and can obtain exquisite appearance effects by color printing. Therefore, it is often used as the surface material of the composite film.
1. BOPP Laminated Woven Open Mouth Bags:
Lamination is the process that transforms several plastic films into a single film with the help of heat and pressure. This technology found its way into many industries including the plastic industry.
The use of such technology gives extra strength to the former single-layered plastic film and adds extra protection to the products inside.
What's most important is that it opens the possibility for customization, which means we can laminate different layers of films to give the bag different kinds of protection. For example, some products may need an additional dry environment because they are sensitive to moisture.
In this case, we can add an extra layer of waterproof plastic film to achieve such effects. One prominent feature of this type of bag is its open-mouth design. Namely, it can be opened easily by hand.
We understand that sometimes if you don't have scissors or other tools, it will be extremely difficult for you to open a sealed plastic bag. However, this might lead to another problem about leakage. Don't worry, we have extra space between the products and the opening mouth so that minimize its possibility of leaking.
In addition to it, we are also capable of adding extra features such as a stand-up feature, this will help the bag stand on its while using it.
2. Multicolor Printed BOPP Laminated PP Woven Bags with Handle and D-Cut:
Let's imagine this, you are in the supermarket and have a lot to carry to your car, but the heaviest bag you are about to carry has no handle, how desperate is that?
With such an experience, we are nowhere to give a solution by adding a handle or D-cut to the top of the bag so that it can be easily lifted single-handedly.
3. BOPP Laminated Valve Bag:
Valve bag is specially designed for high-speed filling. This is achieved by having a small opening on the side of the bag. Normal valve bags with less durable plastic films will have the risk of breakage.
Whereas in the case of BOPP film, it greatly increased the strength of the bag by laminating films together. Air can be exhausted easily due to the structure of the bag, with lower rates of breakage, in a long term, it will have tremendous economic benefits. Valve bag by itself is a great invention by increasing efficiency.
With the help of BOPP laminated film, it can be said that this is the king of plastic bags. We also have a lot more to offer, including customization, printability, brand design and beyond. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
BOPP, technically, is the abbreviation of Biaxially oriented polypropylene film and is generally a multi-layer co-extruded film. The production of BOPP film is that the melt of polymer polypropylene is first made into a sheet or thick film through a long and narrow machine head, and then stretched in two vertical directions (longitudinal and transverse) simultaneously or step by step in a special stretching machine at a certain temperature and set speed, and then made into film after appropriate cooling or heat treatment or special processing (such as corona, coating, etc.).
It is popular in the packaging industry due to its good physical stability, mechanical strength, air tightness, high transparency and wear-resistant, to name a few. However, the film also has some drawbacks. The main disadvantage of biaxially oriented polypropylene film is poor heat sealing, so it is generally used as the outer film of the composite film. For example, after compounding with polyethylene film, moisture resistance, transparency, strength, stiffness and printability are ideal, which is suitable for holding dry food. Because the surface of biaxially oriented polypropylene film is non-polar, has high crystallinity and low surface free energy, its printing performance is poor and its adhesion to ink and adhesive is poor. Surface treatment is required before printing and compounding.
At present, the production methods of BOPP film mainly include the tube film method and flat film method. The tube membrane method belongs to the two-way one-step stretching method. The flat film method is divided into two methods: two-way one-step stretching and two-way two-step stretching.
The tubular membrane method has the advantages of simple equipment, less investment, small land occupation, no edge material loss, simple operation and so on.
However, due to the shortcomings of low production efficiency and large product thickness tolerance, it has hardly developed since the 1980s. At present, it is only used to produce special varieties such as BOPP heat shrinkable film. The products obtained by the two-way one-step drawing method have balanced vertical and horizontal properties and almost no film breaking in the drawing process. However, due to the problems of complex equipment, difficult manufacturing, high price, large loss of scrap, difficult to speed up, limited product thickness and so on, they have not been adopted on a large scale. The two-way two-step drawing method has mature equipment, high production efficiency and is suitable for mass production, which is adopted by most enterprises.
There are generally six to seven steps with regard to the manufacture of BOPP film.
1. Raw material processing
In addition to homopolymer polypropylene (HPP), there are several other materials added into the feeding system such as lubricant, anti-static agent, anti-adhesion agent to give the film extra features.
2. Extrusion
This is a common industrial process in which metal or other material is compressed to create desired shapes. In the extrusion of BOPP, the materials we mentioned above are melted and heated to 200-230 degrees and go through the extrusion tubes, where they are extruded in the form of foil. Sometimes there is a filter in this process aiming to filter out impurities.
3. Casting/Cooling
This step is either called casting or cooling. As the name suggests, this step is to put the foil into the cooled cylinder so that it can reach an ideal state for further stretching.
4. Machine direction orientation (MDO)
In this process, the film will pass through a number of rollers, by which preheat the sheet from the casting machine. This is to prepare it for stretching. Ideally, the foil will be stretched up to five times the original length, whereas the thickness is reduced. The purpose of this stage is to align the polymer chains so that improving the film’s properties. The film has been cooled during MDO which needs another heating process to restore its flexibility.
5. Transverse direction orientation (TDO)
Simply speaking, this stage aims to preheat the sheet and shape the film after longitudinal stretching. As a result, the mechanical properties of the film will be greatly improved. This stage will be achieved by an advanced system so that it will not damage the film itself or cause any breakage. We have the latest TDO system which can stand the test of high-volume production.
6. Rolling
Last but not least, the film will be wrapped around the reel, especially for the finished film. The size of the film is determined by the requirements of the clients.
Many may wonder about the differences between BOPP laminated bags and Woven bags since it appears the same to us at first sight. However, some major differences make them distinctive.
First of all, the sensation of touch is different between BOPP laminated bags and Woven bags, PP woven bags have a sense of softness while BOPP bags are brittle.
Secondly, the overall strength of the BOPP laminated bag is better than that of the Woven bag since it has been through lamination of biaxial orientation. The result of such procedure gives BOPP film features of extra transparency, printability and more.
In comparison to woven bags, BOPP film behaves better under printing machine and the colors stay perfectly in the film with minimum flaws. In terms of water resistance, BOPP film has higher rates of water-proof properties than the normal woven bag.
All of these features give the film a sense of beauty.
